Data Service Options                             $25 attempt fee, several plans available
Whether your computer is in for service and you want to safeguard your data, you need data transferred to a new computer, or you’re setting up a permanent backup, we offer several options for data service, depending on what is most important to you.  We even have options for you if your hard drive has crashed and you need data recovery!

Fees listed are in addition to the attempt fee.  They are not charged if the backup is unsuccessful except where otherwise noted.

  • Home Folder Backup – $10 per home folder

Your home folder stores all of your personal user data such as documents, music, pictures, movies, preferences etc.

  • Full Clone of entire Hard Drive – $50

This is exactly what it sounds like, a complete copy of everything on your hard drive, including applications and system files

  • Permanent Back-up – $25 with purchase of external hard drive (and backup software if applicable)

This is the same as above, a complete copy of everything on your hard drive, but when you pick up your computer, you can take home your back up!  We also will set up the software on your computer to create an automatic back-up process to keep your data safe

Additional VALUE-ADDED Data Services

  • Rebuild of Hard drive to enable backup – $30 (regardless of success of attempt)

Often, if a hard drive is old or corrupted, it will not fully connect to our backup machines and requires some special attention to enable the backup.  If your hard drive exhibits these symptoms, a tech will call you to further explain this situation and get your approval to attempt a rebuild of your hard drive to enable the backup

  • Physical extraction of hard drive – $60/hour (regardless of success of attempt)

If the other internal components of your computer are causing your hard drive to be unreadable, we can still physically remove the drive and hook it up to our backup machines manually.  If the tech suspects that this is the case, you will be called with a further explanation and an estimate of the time it will take to remove your hard drive to complete the backup.

  • Data Recovery $200 minimum (2 days of recovery time, additional time billed at $100/2 days)

If your hard drive has crashed or you have accidentally erased data, we may be able to recover your data for you.  However, the Data Recovery process can be lengthy as each individual block on your hard drive is scanned, and any available data is recovered bit by bit.  Recovery is a two part process, scanning the drive, then writing the recovered data.  The time for the writing of data must be equal to the time for the scanning.  This is why we bill this in two day increments.  The $200 minimum covers the setup of the recovery and the first 2 days of recovery time.  At the end of the first day, we will call you to let you know how much of your drive has been scanned and how much data has been found (unfortunately, we cannot say exactly what the recovered data is).  If the full drive has been scanned, you will be given the opportunity to continue the scanning process or stop there and write the recovered data (which takes up the second day of the recovery).  If you chose to continue, we will continue the scan for another day and call you at the end of that day with an update.
